Last week was a busy one for Borders Tri Club with various members competing in all sorts of events throughout the country.
Jonny Rutherford represented the club at the London Triathlon on August 9, performing remarkably well despite the unseasonable temperature of the Thames.
He finished in a commendable 229th place out of more than 1,400 competitors with a time of on
e hour and 24 minutes.
Saturday was the race for the 'big men' at Aberfeldy Half Ironman, with two club members taking the challenge.
Keith Nairn had concentrated all his training for this event, completing the gruelling course in 5.31, to finish in 43rd position. Toby Vint is growing stronger week by week and beat his target time taking 6.43.
Paul McGreal spent Saturday at an adventure event, taking more than 11 hours, yet still looked fresh when he turned up the following day for the local Kelso Triathlon.
Eleven other members competed at Kelso and enjoyed a dry and warm day with perfect conditions for racing.
Brian Nicoll claimed a well-deserved trophy taking first male veteran and seventh overall in 1.17. Next was McGreal in 13th position with 1.22, which was impressive after his previous day's ordeal.
Nick Jupp put in another sound performance in 1.25 and Charlie Roberts and Graeme Easson had their own private battle, with Roberts taking Easson on the final lap of the run.
Other competitors were Jonny Rutherford, Suzanne Mercer, Peter Baxter, Jackie Law, Katrona Methven, Diane Ford and Elspeth Baxter.
The next local event is BSLT duathlon at the Gytes, Peebles on Sunday, August 31.
