Eddleston near Peebles is the scene for the sixth round of the Scottish MX2 and Youth Motocross Championships next weekend.
The action takes place at the upgraded Shiplaw motocross track, recently upgraded by Grand Prix track designer Johnny Douglas Hamilton.

It now boasts a whoops section, a selection of tabletop jumps, a huge wall of death on camber corner, and bermed hairpins offering excellent spectating.

Riders from all over Britain and Ireland will be competing in the sixth round of the championships hosted by the Scottish Youth Motocross Club.

The series that was the proving ground for current Grand Prix stars such as Billy Mackenzie, Stephen Sword and Shaun Simpson now has each round held over two days and with each race scoring double points anything can happen.

The action takes place on Saturday and Sunday, August 30-31 and the youth classes have three races each on Saturday and two each on Sunday.

The Youth 144/250f class is currently led by Gary Sharp who will be trying to fend off the likes of Mark Perfect and David Plank, while the youth 125 class is hotly contested by Ryan McLean and Aidan Bruce.

In the 85 big wheel class, current British 85SW champion Matthew Fleming will be out to continue his fine run of form and defend his championship lead from Cameron Pendreich. In the 85 small wheel class, Ryan Livingstone sits clear of Danny Stalker.

Junior 65cc rider Jay Lamb remains the boy to beat in the smallest championship class.

The adults on their monster MX2 250cc machines will have three races on the Sunday. Sean McDonald sits comfortably at the top of the championship table, but there are another three riders still with a chance of taking the title.

Racing starts at 11am on each day and the track will be signposted from the A703. For more info on the meeting phone Wenda Bryce on 01875 821784.

They're a good idea and I always have a look
So far so good but I'd like to see more in terms of numbers and variety
I never watch them
