Former Peebles manager Mark Lamb has accepted a position at Spartans in a shock move just days after starting at Gala Fairydean.
Lamb left Peebles at the end of the season – having led his home side to promotion – and was linked to various clubs. But in June the 40-year-old ended speculation by announcing his move to Gala as coach.

He was warmly received at his first training session at Netherdale last Tuesday, but on Thursday, players were told he had accepted an offer from Spartans.

The deal will see him take on coaching responsibilities for the Spartans' reserve team, unless the first team win a place in the SFL third division in a vote taken today, in which case Lamb is tipped to take the reins for the club's East of Scotland campaign.

Spartans chairman Craig Graham said: "Mark has his B Licence and continues to work on further badges so I'm sure he will make the same positive impact as made by Mike Irving when he joined last season.

"This is a really positive move for the club, irrespective of which league we will play in this season."
