Arran Gannicott continued his great form this season winning at the fourth round of the SDA downhill mountain bike series at Ae Forest last weekend.
The win all but guarantees him the series title. He showed how good a rider he has become with a time that put him eighth overall.

This follows on from his win in Wales the week before in the national point series – where he just needs to finish
in the top five to take the overall championship at youth level.

Jedburgh's expert rider Pete Williams also claimed a good win at the weekend to keep his chance of winning the overall expert class alive with one round left to race at Innerleithen on September 14.

Conditions on race day weren't ideal as heavy overnight rain continued to fall through practice, but it cleared for the start of the racing.

In the juvenile section, Fraser McGlone came first, followed by Joe Connell and Greg Gilfillan, with young Peebles rider Matthew Scott finishing fourth.

The youth class was won by Gannicott with Innerleithen's Lewis Buchanan only 2.5 seconds behind in second place, and third going to Mark Scott.

The junior race was won by Ben Ineson, with Ali Wilson and Andy Phillips hot on his heels.

Mark Wilcox took the masters win over Andrew Buddin in second place. Phillip McLaren got his first podium in third.

The senior class title went to Ross Anderson with a comfortable 3.5-second win over Callum Gault and Billy Campbell came in a second behind Gault to get third.

Alistair MacLennan once again took the Veteran win by a huge 20 seconds over Steve Felsted in second with Kem Avis in third.

There were only four riders in the women's race – Sarah Newman took the win over Naomi Williamson and Bex Reilly.

Pete Williams took the Expert win by five seconds over Liam Little in second. Ben Cortis was a second back in third and local rider Graeme Forrest just missed out on a podium finish by half a second.

The elite class saw Ben Cathro put in another great ride to win the race over Innerleithen's Fergus Lamb, Joe Barnes claiming third.

Local rider Gary Forrest still managed a good fifth, even though he was suffering from a stomach bug.
