Chris and Val Harding of Langshaw spotted a monochromed visitor in their garden.
They told us: "We saw a magpie in our garden in Langshaw yesterday (Friday, April 18), attracted to the fat snacks on the bird feeder.

"We have lived here three and a half years and this is the first one we have seen, and indeed the first one we have seen in this part of the Borders at all.

"Do you know why they are so rare around here?"
